IMAGES OF NATURE EXHIBITION

Permanent Exhibition, Natural History Museum, London, 2010

Real Studios was given the brief to create a design for the permanent gallery, showcasing the different ways of recording nature from historical hand drawings to more modern technologies. The team and I came up with a design that used a simple, clean display approach to allow the range of media and materials to sit together within the space.

Colour was used sparingly, from small accents on furniture to graphic design. This was done so as not to detract from the artwork and displays themselves.

Special attention was given to how people would circulate around the exhibition, as this space is a main route through the museum. Main displays were kept tight to the walls, and when in the space, were accessed from the sides. Interactive elements, with a short dwell time, were placed at the end of the displays, acting as draw cards.
